Dashing Diva

Posted by cher on August 2nd, 2007

As a tribute to all things chic and entertaining that I find in the city, I will be posting a weekly article called – you guessed it – “These are a few of my favorite things.”

This week I found a new, fabulous place to spend all my money that I don’t have. Girly-girls will love it, guys probably won’t step a foot into the building, let alone sit in the (pink upholstered) waiting chairs. It’s a pink paradise of a nail salon called Dashing Diva. They offer a basic Diva Manicure, Eyelash Extensions, and everything in between. There’s different levels of manis and pedis to choose from, as well as new forms of nail tips (say goodbye to acrylics, ladies). For NYC, the prices are not unreasonable at all. A Diva Manicure will only set you back $15; my new Virtual Nail set with a french manicure was only $40. You can have parties and ladies’ nights out there and enjoy their version of a cosmo on Friday evenings. Love it! Check out all of their locations and services here.

It’s time to cut back on the crack.

Bobby – “Bin Laden and Bush Want My Ass”"Famous paranoiac Bobby Brown is still under the impression that Osama Bin Laden and George Bush want him dead. Brown, according to Rush & Molloy, said recently while on tour in Melbourne, “I figure if Bin Laden wants me, and everybody is looking for him, it probably won’t happen … Come on, if anybody [else was] threatened by Al Qaeda, they’d take it seriously.” Brown attributes Bin Laden’s displeasure to a claim last year that public enemy no. 1 had a thing for Bobby’s ex-wife, Whitney Houston. Bobby’s ex-lover, Karrine Steffans, now says he also thinks the President wants him offed as well.” (Source)

Say whattt? The drug effects on D list celebrities are so entertaining.

Hey there Cheryl, what’s it like in New York City?

Somehow it just doesn’t sound as good as “Hey there Delilah.” I’ve loved this song ever since the boyfriend made me listen to it a few months ago (i.e. before it became overplayed.) For anyone who’s in a long distance relationship, it’s hard not to smile when you hear it. Anyways, I never knew there was a story behind the lyrics and a real Delilah until I came across an article in People magazine. You can read about it here.

And for all of you who can still stand to listen to the song :) here’s the video.
