It’s Juicy-licious: Fall and Winter 2007 Line

Juicy Couture had a party on Thursday night at Bloomingdale’s to celebrate the first anniversary of the debut of their fragrance. You can’t keep me away from free food and drinks, so of course I attended. Hosted by Teen Vogue, the event also showcased its upcoming fall and winter lines.

This is what Juicy girls will be wearing when the temperature drops: lots of layers – think turtleneck dresses with sweaters  or swing coats over them; big gold buttons detailing cuffs and necks and even in between; ballet flats with ankle laces.

I love these shoes because they’re not as flimsy and soft as the ballet flats we’ve been seeing – these shoes have substance. They have pointed toes compared to the usual round ones and the durable leather will definitely be able to survive NYC streets. One of the models was wearing a pair of shoes that had charms attached to the ankle strap. It was a cute and surprising addition.

Track suits are still one of Juicy’s most well known products, and this fall they’ll be available in new colors: burgundy, forest green, and midnight blue. ”Love Juicy” runs down the left leg. My favorite accessory in this show, however, was the pink mittens. They have a flap that covers your fingers, or folds back to give you access – making it easy to text or dial. An adorable green and white candy button adorns the top of the mitten.

The Juicy brand is definitely geared more to teenagers – most of the clothes would not be appropriate for a corporate office setting. However, I would definitely rock a lot of the pieces over the weekend in a more casual setting.

Oh, and as a final thought: I’m obsessed with this bag!

I <3 Fummer

Posted by cher on September 21st, 2007

Ah, that beautiful time of the year when summer meets fall in a fabulous combination of warm sunny days and brisk nights. If only people knew how to dress for them.

I’ve been staring into my closet longingly, waiting for the first chilly day to arrive so I can wear my new fall wardrobe. But that’s where the temptation ends; I know it is not the time to pull out my tights or wool coat or boots. It seems, however, that the minute word gets out that the temperature dropped below 70 (even if that happens at one o’clock in the morning), New Yorkers are donning all the latest fall and winter fashions.

Then there’s the opposite group that is in denial: they refuse to pack up their tank tops and shorts. The city is currently a mish-mash of fashion – some people are stuck in summer with their mini skirts; others are bundled up, ready for the next blizzard.

Here’s my take: Hey you, bundled up in the long down coat and scarf (yes, I did see her yesterday) – what’s the rush in ditching summer? At the very least, embrace fummer. ‘Tis the season for long sleeve tee shirts and flip flops.

In case you’re confused, here’s what NOT to wear during the fummer:

Colcci U.S. Launch Party

Posted by cher on September 20th, 2007

Last night I trekked down to the East Village (which apparently is what inhabitants prefer to call it nowadays, compared to the old “Alphabet City”) to attend the Colcci U.S. Launch Party at Bathhouse Studios. Gisele Bundchen is the spokes-model for the line, which originates from Brazil. It was hard to get a real feel for the line because of the sparse items they had set up around Bathhouse, but here’s my take: it’s a street-chic, colorful, vintagy inspired look complete with detailed jeans and tee shirts, strappy sandals (I had my eye on a pair of robin-egg blue ones), and bags with serious hardware and depth.

The evening was full of cocktails, mini-burgers and Gisele-watching. Believe it or not, she’s even more beautiful in real life than in her pictures.  James Blunt had just arrived when we got there, so we had a nice closeup of his paparazzi poses outside of Bathhouse. He’s quite the scruffy guy. At the end of the night Nigel Barker (photographer and judge on America’s Next Top Model) came in with his wife. Until last night I thought he was gay, which was actually a little easier on my heart. I think he’s so hot, so to learn that he has a wife was quite crushing.

OVERHEARD: An event staffer whispering to another, apparently more lowly staffer that he had to go fetch Gisele a specific drink. I guess Ms. Bundchen didn’t find the Pravda O.N.E. drinks appealing?? Who knows how long that poor boy was running around the city trying to find her Brazilian drink of choice.

All in all, it was a fabulous night with some hot celebrity sightings. For more information on Colcci, check out the website. And, for your viewing pleasure, a few pictures:

FYI: I’ll be at Te Casan next Wednesday to celebrate the signing of celebrity stylist Mary Lafayette with the Victoria Agency, hosted by America’s Next Top Model Bre Scullark. Check back for a review and more pics!
